Nestled south of Bonney Lake in Pierce County, Washington, our vibrant, master-planned community is poised to become a beacon of integrated living, nature, and business.
Originally known as Cascadia, Tehaleh’s construction began in 2005 with an ambitious 20-year development plan under the leadership of Patrick Kuo. After several financial setbacks, including a foreclosure in 2010, the project found new life in the hands of Newland Communities and North American Sekisui House. Together, they reshaped the vision and breathed new life into the project, renamed Tehaleh, a Chinook jargon term meaning “highlands” or “the land above”.
Our community stands on a plateau several hundred feet above the adjacent Puyallup River valley, granting us spectacular views and a natural protection against flooding. Even in the unlikely event of an eruption from nearby Mount Rainier, Tehaleh remains outside the hazard zone, a safe haven in the highlands.
Education is a cornerstone of our community. With two public elementary schools, Mountain View Middle School and Bonney Lake High School, we offer quality education close to home, fostering a sense of neighborhood among our younger residents.
Tehaleh also stands out for its infrastructure and amenities. Although we’re yet to have direct public transportation, our residents conveniently commute to Seattle using nearby bus and train services. The community hub, The Post, serves as an information center and a cozy spot to unwind. For dining options, we have The Mantel, an exclusive dining establishment, and Caffé D’arte located within The Post.
However, what truly sets Tehaleh apart is our commitment to outdoor living. Our master plan includes an expansive 1,800 acres of trails, parks, and open spaces. We currently have 12 parks and more than 10 miles of trails, with more in the pipeline, promoting an active, healthy lifestyle amidst nature.
